Odi

Breed

White Swiss Shepherd

Age

2.5 years old

Initial concerns/issues

Compromised gut, allergies and hip dysplasia

What we did:

1-1 Consultation, meal plan and supplements.

Odi struggled with a compromised gut and ongoing allergy flare ups which was a result of Vets overprescribing Steroids and Antibiotics. By 8 months old, Odi was prescribed 3 courses of each. Vets then ran bloods which claimed Odi was allergic to all proteins other than Venison, as well as Environmental Allergies.

Despite Vets advising to feed a Hypoallergic Kibble, Odi has always been feed a raw, fresh diet. I booked a consultation with a well-known Irish Raw Advocate which, our last correspondence read “So sorry, I feel like I've failed but I have no faith diet alone is going to rehab this dog”.  This made me even more determined to find the right support. I followed Chadwick Nutrition on Instagram for some time and was genuinely in awe of Jacinta, she truly inspired me and watching her own story with Noah, I knew Jacinta was the right person for us as we share the same ethics & views, I reached out to her and booked a consultation.

Jacinta had a solution for everything, went into great detail to explain the issues, and more importantly how we were going to fix them. Her wealth of knowledge and strong moral principles ignited my passion to do better so we went straight to work on Odi.  We added a digestive enzyme as his gut was compromised, he couldn’t break down his food efficiently therefore he wasn’t utilising the vitamins and minerals from the food.  We added fats to his diet as Venison is an incredibly lean protein. We then worked on rotation and added new proteins. We worked on his gut and immune system and Odi is absolutely thriving on a hugely varied diet with zero gut or skin issues.

We were then thrown a curve ball, Odi was diagnosed with Hip Dysplasia. I had been working with Jacinta on and off for over a year at this stage and we immediately went to work and put a natural pain management plan in place using food therapy and supplements. Our Orthoepic Specialist was amazed that Odi showed no clinical signs of pain given the severity of his Hip Dysplasia and fully supports his treatment plan. I strongly believe Food is Medicine and am incredibly lucky to have Jacinta in our corner, who has now become Aunty Jacinta to Odi and a great friend to me.

I was determined to do better for Odi and Jacinta made this possible. He is absolutely thriving which is truly a testament to Jacinta.
