Initial concerns/issues
Advice to improve existing raw diets, support elderly dog with Arthritis, pancreatitis and allergies.
What we did:
1-1 Consultation, meal plans and supplements.
I started working with Jacinta when we got our third dog. I was already a raw feeder but looking back I definitely lacked rotation and didn't quite understand what needed to be fed in order to ensure the dogs all got what they needed. One of my Basset Hounds was struggling with joint issues, the other had had pancreatitis multiple times and as a result had a very sensitive stomach and would often struggle on raw food, especially proteins like beef, and our third dog was a much bigger breed so I wanted to make sure I was giving him the right food to help him grow properly without putting on weight too quickly but to also ensure he got what he needed to grow.
Straight after my consult with Jacinta, I felt like I had the knowledge I needed to start adding in other proteins, organ meats, fish and supplements to support them with their individual needs.
I moved from predominantly feeding chicken and beef mince to kangaroo, venison, veal, lean beef, fish, age-appropriate bones, tripe, bone broth and so many other foods that I would never have given them had it not been for Jacinta's advice.
My 9 year old Basset Hound had a really tough time when she was around 7.5, I took her to the vet as she was showing signs of pain and they did an X-ray and a physical exam and confirmed she had early onset arthritis, they said she would benefit from going on Beransa and that it was 'safe' with no side effects, so I agreed. For about a year she was fine, she was also doing fortnightly hydro and she seemed great, until she started to show signs that worried me. When I went back to the vet they suggested adding in gabapentin and a cycle of Synovan, I wasn't sure what to do so I agreed hoping she would be better. She was incredibly unstable on her back legs, multiple times they would just sort of collapse on her, she was showing signs of incontinence, she looked dull and would often have no energy or her usual spunky nature. Her coat was so bad, constantly shedding, her eyes lacked sparkle, she slept all day and also seemed so medicated not with us, she developed a horrific yeast infection and when I took her back to the vets for the 4th time they suggested we 'stop Beransa as it may be causing this' - I was beyond infuriated given the drug they recommended was what was causing all of this and no one told me it had any side effects it was spoken about as if it was a miracle cure for Arthritis....
I immediately spoke to Jacinta and she helped me to decide to bring her off all medication, we talked about it at length but I felt happier bringing her off everything so we could reasses things. She made her a custom joint blend and I started her on P.E.A. It's been 3 months since then and she is THRIVING!! She got her spark back within a week, her mobility was great, her eyes got their sparkle back, her coat is back to being beautiful and her yeast infection cleared up. She hasn't had any medication since and is doing so well on her custom blend and P.E.A. I was so thankful to Jacinta, I cried with happiness to have my girl back and I am so blown away by the power of supplements.
I am constantly complimented on all of my dogs weight, their shiny coats, their teeth and told they look so young for their age and I know for a fact all of this is down to their diet's clean supplements.
Jacinta continues to support me with them as they change with allergies, joints and gut health . I'll forever be a customer of Chadwick Nutrition and I always tell my friends with dogs to do a consult with her because just 1 session is invaluable.
